Thieves target tidy towns material in Carrick On Shannon

Carrick-on-Shannon Tidy Towns is slamming a series of thefts of flowers and hanging baskets in the area.

The judging season for the Supervalu TidyTowns competition started at the beginning this month and the group has been decorating the area with colourful plants.

But the group chairman, DeasΓΊn Lyons claims many items have been robbed over the past few weeks.

He says about seven dahlias were stolen from outside Leitrim County Council’s offices, while a valuable half-barrel, with beautiful flowers, were robbed from a roundabout.

Lyons says two hanging baskets were also taken from Kelly’s shop near the town centre.

The tidy towns chairman is strongly criticising the news.
