good friday ban lifted

The Dáil has passed legislation to allow pubs to serve alcohol on Good Friday and it will now go to the President to be signed into law.

It will mark the first time in more than 90 years that alcoholic beverages will be available in Ireland on the last Friday before Easter Sunday.

Introducing the bill, Minister of State David Stanton said removing the ban on selling alcohol on Good Friday would help Irish tourism.
